in the post verdict press interviews, both david dein of arsenal and
bruce buck of chelsea were asked about what this affair will have done
to the relationship between arsenal and chelsea.
david dein was a class act all the way, infinitely more gracious and
forgiving than i would have been, saying that arsenal and chelsea
would continue to have a good relationship and that the cole affair
was done and dusted, no hard feelings.
bruce buck on the other hand actually had the gaul to suggest that
this entire thing had been orchestrated by arsenal to screw chelsea
over, and said that the relationship between the clubs was ruined
because of arsenal.
arsenal are the victims in all of this, and those classless chelsea
bastards blame us for getting them in trouble.
my respect for chelsea off the pitch has gone down the toilet.
i think it all starts with mourinho's win at all costs mentality.
mourinho has led his team and club into more disciplinary hearings in
one season than i thought possible. pissing off the FA, UEFA and FIFA
with tapping up this and that player, referee intimidation, public
claims of match fixing and result-influencing against other managers,
having their players brawl on a couple occasions, inciting their fans
to send death threats to referees.
the game of football is about more than just winning. certain
traditions and customs exist to foster an amount of respect between
clubs and their players and fans. chelsea have been a disgrace when it
comes to respecting these traditions. an absolute disgrace.
no wonder they ran off with the title, they didn't have things like
honour and decency to weigh them down.
