Difference is, in America they have to take cameras with them. Here we just
have them pointing at every last thing we do, not to mention logging our car
movements and recognising our faces. This sort of thing should be on the
news every day, but it's not. And we just walk soporifically into our own
demise.

Soporifically. Great word, but the opportunities to use it are so rare.
There is a different culture in America. Govt criticism is widely seen as
being anti-American, whereas here it's a national pastime. |

These pussies bitching about a police state because there's a few police
in front of a demonstration make me sick. They should talk to someone
who lived in East Germany and find out what the phrase really means. |

What a spectacularly idiotic thing to say. That's like watching somebody be
ill and not doing anything about it cos your uncle Bob has cancer and you
should look at him and see what being ill really means.

I would argue the contrary. Americans are very involved in their democracy -
pretty much every public post is voted for, from the president down to
school governors. They have rights enshrined in their written constitution,
they have checks and balances built into their model of democracy. It's all
gone tits up under this administration, but at least they're invested in it.
Here, apathy is the very thing that's killing us. Yes, we moan a lot, but
do we actually do anything about anything? No. Could we even if we wanted
to? No.
