One of the strangest refereeing performances I've ever seen. Although to be
fair he DID give a penalty for the Naismith one, but the linesmen had
already flagged wrongly for offside |

In all fairness to him, he puts in similarly excruciating performances
week-in week-out, no matter where he goes.
He's terrible, but it seems equally terrible to everyone. There is some
kind of justice in there, perhaps. |

Not disagreeing with you but could the offside have been from before the
ball was played on to him? Still wrong decision but he was coming back
from an offside position just before the ball is played on.

Dunno - either way he was level with the defender when the final-phase ball
gets played to him. |

I thought the goalie 'handball' was another mistake by that same assistant
ref. |

It was noted in: (fmn6mh$lju$1@registered.motzarella.org),
that Will spouted forth their words of wisdom...:

I dont think 'fairness' is what he deserves! It'd be too ironic!

Well true, I dont really keep tabs on ref performances on other teams'
games... but if you look him up on wikipedia, he does get a bit of a bad
rep!

I can't believe he didn't send Naismith off for persistent diving. |

What i thought was funny was he pulled up Cousin for talking back when i
hardly noticed him saying anything yet Ferguson, Burke and Naismith were
all very vocal throughout the game. The guy just didn't have a clue.

It goes back to the old 'when does one phase of play end and another
start'. Of all Naismiths claims for penalties during the game i thoguht
this was the only true one.

Was surprised with that one. The reaction from the goalie suggested he
carried it out although i'm sure the linesman would claim he was at the
wrong side to see it definately outside the box.
