It's about 5 years overdue, but I've realised that the Usenet football
groups contain next to no reasoned debate and more poisonous vitriol
than an Australian sports team. I've realised that if I walked in to
the nearest pub, I'm more likely to get a reasoned, knowledgeable
objective conversation about football than here.

I've realised that posters like dieu and drivel are a cancer that
can't be eradicated from the group, they care too much about Arsenal
for that.

I've realised that there are better things to do with my time and a
short break isn't what I need.

Gooners, maybe see you on awimb. Other decent genuine people like
BrianE and others, good luck to you if not your team.

See you there, Ian, just registered.

I'll probably drop by here from time to time to see if it gets any better -
sadly the signal to noise ratio has reached an unbearable level now and the
'good threads' are increasingly hard to find....

I suppose this'll result in some kind of abusive response which, by a
massive dose of irony, will reinforce our position!

Typical sanctimonious self-righteous and hypocritical drivel from the
all-time #1 troll poster in the United group - Coco.

You equate my posts with cancer?

Which ones? The ones that point out what a bumtious nincompoop you often
are.

The ones that point out what a hypocrite Wenger is to moan about harsh
tackles?

The ones that point out what nonsense is spouted about arse being the best
attacking side when the evidence points to this not being so?

The ones pointing out what a fool you often make of yourself with posts
like -

Ronaldo is a panic-buy with no end product.

Dein is the person I most admire in football.

The ones where you demand I post proof of my claim that United dominated the
game at the Emirates last season and I post six links to quality papers and
you still can't concede the point?

Etc, etc. etc.

Let's face it Ian. You've always loved having a dig at United, to an
irrational degree. You just don't enjoy having it pointed out when you're
talking bollocks, which, when it comes to United, is almost all the time.

If you engaged in proper debate, as I seem to remember you once did, then
you wouldn't have a problem. But you just like making your snide digs and
can't handle any comeback.

Oh well.

See you in a fortnight Coco.

One thing I've wondered about Ian is what motivates him - is he just an
out and out troll or actually a biased, sanctimonious, snide little
twat? I've always found it difficult to work out from his posting style.

I think he was the former, posting more in the United group than anyone else
for a number of years. Then he got bored, didn't like the comebacks,
whatever, and became the snide little twat.

He's the kid who wasn't very good at football, but insisted on taking all
the penalties and free kicks and now he's taking his ball home.

I think you take all of this too seriously. If you remember that your
opinion is worth no more or less than anyone else on here and will be
treated as such, you would get less upset.

In other words he's Usenets answer to William Gallas.

.... or maybe 'Ian Harvey' was the nom-de-plume of Wenger - just a thought.

They certainly share the same grace under pressure.

lol...

Ian (Usenet's #1 troll) is fed up with the newsgroups, well good
ridance to some very bad shite I say! Strange how he leaves as Arsenal
go through a bad spell isn't it? He's done this before, he'll be back
sniping within a month!

He has a split personality
He's all mild mannered and fair play on his own group but trolls
other teams groups incessantly. He is the all timer leading poster in
the United group yet has the cheek to even talk about people
"trolling" in the Arsenal group. If I thought he's stay gone then the
Arsenal group would be well rid, but he's done this before and
returned.

Funny you should say that, in the past he's come out posting one way
and when Wenger or Dein made a statement that was different than his
he changed immediatly to the "club line"

Weasel of a man....
