"Hot property Dimitar Berbatov will cost at least a British transfer
record £35 if any of his suitors - Manchester United or Chelsea - are to
prise the forward away from Spurs. (Various)"

£35m? For a player with his attitude. No thanks. I'd rather we sink
a true professional - like Anelka.

I'm not sure whether thats a piss take or not hard to tell with your posting
history.

But Anelka has grown up a lot from the sulking moody twat who pissed off
every team he played for, would be a great signing for Chelsea.

Anelka should be available for less than half the 35m...far better buy
but don't you think the 35M is tabloid talk more than anything else?

I think Anelka will suit United more. I reckon Berbatov will be another
RVN, he'll slow down our play and he'll bring issues to the dressing
room. I think Anelka will settle like Cantona do, I reckon he'd love it
at United.

Ordinarily I would say, without doubt. But, let's face it, clubs do
tend to take the piss and ask for silly money when Chelsea are an
interested party. Although I think the days of us paying absolutely
stupid money unnecessarily are (hopefully) over now. And let's face
it, when a player wants out, both his agent and the player's current
club start feeding stuff to the press. I wouldn't be surprised if
Spurs are looking to start a bidding war thru the tabloids. But then,
£35m is a stupid sum to start with. If Drogba, Rooney, Tevez and
Torres are all valued roughly in the £25m bracket by the only English
clubs able to sign him, why would any of them shell out an extra 40%
on a player who, good though he is, has just the one good season in
England to his name.

I had serious reservations about us signing Anelka but enough people
have expressed the opinion that he's not the spoilt brat he was 10
years ago to convince me he would be a good signing if we can get him.

There's no doubting the talent and recently he's also started behaving
himself

You have a good point, we don't even want to start thinking of going
backwards. I doubt we'll sign either of them in January anyway.

He certainly has. Even when asked about the possibility of a move to a
bigger club he has been humble enough to add something like, "although
I would also be happy to remain at Bolton".

That said, our track record with French players isn't good. They
always start to play up once they reach SW6.

Or you could spent the £35m on the full set of tabloids, everyday, until
the earth comes to an end and get exclusive reports while it happens.

United should forget Berbatov or Anelka and go for Riise. Devastating in
front of goal at the moment.

Anelka does not give a rats arse for reputations or anybody else as
long as he gets paid and gets to play football.

He is going to Chelsea anyway.
