Following further deliberations and dialogue with the players, the
Club today requested permission to postpone the game against Hearts.
However, we have been advised that the game must go ahead as
scheduled.

If Walter Smith thinks a game shouldn't go ahead, then it doesn't? Other
clubs don't get treated as fairly? Hearts are bigger bampots than Rangers?
The SPL have made an arse of the whole thing and should have been pro-active
and automatically cancelled the SPL card?

When the Celtic captain is a very close friend of the O'Donnell family, Scot
McDonald played with him for a few years, along with many of the backroom
staff remaining close friends with Phil then perhaps you're right. Maybe a
game of football wasn't foremost in their minds. I think the whole card
should have been scrapped. I'm sure it would have affected all the players
in the SPL and gave them a lot to think about.

Walter Smith and Rangers behaved with class over this, it's a shame that
some supporters are so consumed with the OF, that they cannot take a step
back and drop the point scoring, just for once.

That must be one of the most sensible posts you have made, and i too agree
that the whole card should have been scrapped, shame on the SPL.
If one game was going to be postponed as a mark of respect then ALL games
should have been postponed.
No if's, no buts, just cancel all games. And it should have been done as
soon as the news of his death became available from the hospital on Saturday
tea time.

Not point scoring, IMO truth.
Celtic waited till Monday to request the postponement, what was wrong with
asking for it on Saturday ?

Funny how Jim the Falkirk fan gets it without any problem. But Blue, VOR &
jim want to use the death of a footballer for their perverse point scoring.
It's times like this when people should pull together, instead you guys
paint a depressing picture of West of Scotland bigotry and intolerance.

No idea why you are getting hung up on the 2 days thing?? Would Celtic
have been less likely to get stuffed on Saturday night? since that's
what you are implying. Was it only Monday am that WGS realised McGeady
wasn't playing or that our defence has been poor?

Sounds to me that your only justification for your opinion that Celtic
knew they would get beat and have used Phil O'Donnell death to get the
game cancelled is that you are being a bitter and twisted sod. Now sod
off ya point scoring looney.....

It's a good article. I like the Gibbons one below also. If anyone is
asking any questions about what has been going on it should be why, if
Gibbons is right, the SPL rebuffed Celtic's initial request on the
Sunday to have the game postponed...?

VoR is being presented with another view. He can either accept Celtic did
the right thing....or suggest that Gibbons is a liar...wonder what he will
choose?

for once i will agree with you, all games should have been called off
there and then but they only called of those at motherwell had to play
or anything to do with the ground, but it took two days for celtic to
ask, and only did when they relised they had no team, now Dundee find
out that CFC are not playing, they hear about the grief card getting
played so they ask.

they ask and get told No, and they were the players that saw it
happen.

Telling the truth is not point scoring.

yes Rangers football club did the right thing by accepting they game
was off, not much choice when shame fc are playing the grief card two
days too late or rather two days after walter said it.

they way celtic did it is what is wrong here not the game its self.

they could have made comment about it at the time as walter they didnt
and if they had a full team they wouldnt have asked for it to be
cancelled.
