On such an *obvious* penalty, when the official doesn't do his job, it
adds to the frustration of the team who's been cheated. They begin to
play more recklessly as they desperately attempt to get back on level
footing with the other team.

When a team is playing against 14 men, such as Sheffield is tonight, it
doesn't surprise me at all when someone gets crushed by a nasty tackle
from a frustrated player.

I have to agree here

Styles has been 100% pro Sheffield United tonight

The booking of the Roonster was little short of a joke.

I demand the FA quit their constant persecution of United and that we get
that nice Mr Riley for our remianing fixtures at home, and in Europe.

These decisions which happen all the time sure seem to happen in favor
of a "big club" more often than not. It's a shame to see, and I say
that as a supporter of a "big club".

Rooney should have gotten a second yellow on the spot for pointing at
the official like he did and running his yap.

I suppose all that can be done about it is to get the broadcasters to
point it out or do an investigation, etc.

In the US, ESPN has a program called 'Outside the Lines' which exposes
such things from time to time. Is there any in-depth investigative type
of agency within the BBC or Sky Sports?

he has done it several times in the game, weak refereeing just to take it
and not discipline. That behaviour comes from the manager, with incidents
such as his foul mouth tirade at Geoff Shreeves for merely pointing out the
bleeding obvious (Ronaldo is a cheat).

come on now, you are just being silly

Rooney missed the player, Styles saw the back page and took his chances.

He got it wrong.

It is not that different to boxing. The ref favoured the home team. He
stitched Sheffield up before now against Utd.

Horseshit!

He booked Alan Smith for his first tackle and let some of the
Sheffield players to hack all night. He missed two penalties one for
each side.

He booked our boys based on reputation, and let Shef get away with murder.
Had it not been for the fact he never gave them a penalty for Gabby's
tackle.....I would have considered it *the* most one sided ref display I've
ever witnessed. With hindsight, I reckon he's just inept.

Sheffield were lucky to have 11 men on the field after the tackle on
Evra.

1. Late tackle
2. From behind
3. high boot
4. Studs out

Any one of those is reason enough for one yellow, while the combo should
be a straight red.

Mind, I wouldn't have protested a red and peno for Gabby's "tackle"
either, but Sheffield were let off the hook all night long.

Injuries Looks like we are being hit hard with injuries this season as well: Lehmann - out Gallas - out Rosicky - out Hleb - out Adebayor - out Eduardo - out This would mean 5 out of AW starting XI (at the outset of the season) is out injuried. Still we managed to

Injuries 4 of Arsenal's current preferred starting XI is out with Fabregas, Flamini, Hleb, V Persie. Gilberto as back up for Flamini is also out. It should be interesting to see how Arsenal will cope tomorrow.

Injuries Parker, Ljunberg and Solano all doubtful for the trip to the Emirates. I've still got a pair of boots somewhere! Happy New Year Garry
