I watched yesterday's game against MC on Sky. NU mis-placed passes
throughout and Geremi, Beye and Butt were caught in possession and robbed
throughout. MC were just the opposite, free flowing and accurate, hardly
ever got caught with the ball. One touch football, they were very, very
good. (I couldn't watch MotD last night I was so p'd off).
Erickson was never as good as this with England I thought.
I looked at the guy next to Sven and thought "I know him" and no sooner had
my memory kicked in than the commentator identified him as Derek Fazackerly.
Fazackerly was coach at NUFC during the Keegan era, well most of it, when he
left to go to Blackburn, NU, in my humble opinion, didn't play nearly as
well after he left ...and the rest is history.
KK wasn't a great success after NU and Erickson never really built an
England team that was successful or consistent or seemed to have fluidity or
purpose ...McLaren was his Coach!
Makes you wonder about the Manager and the Coach!

um, fazackerly has been at man city for years.

keegan took him there when he got the job, so i think accrediting
their style of football to him is a bit far-fetched! Smile

i think it could be that eriksson's just bought some quality attacking
midfielders who can string a passing move together, while we have
nicky butt and alan smith in central midfield at the minute...

We dont play slick, one touch football becasue we dont have the
technical players to do it. A lot of people slated Sven when things
werent going that well with the national team. But he is a top club
manager with lotsof contacts all over the world. A lot depended on the
players on the pitch with England (with their mentality when taking
penalites). It was wrong for the media to blame Sven for everything.
I think Seven got almost as much as he could from that set of
players.

England have only a few world class players right now (and Rooney isnt
one of them) and to get to semis or the final, you either need a lot
of luck ( i.e. greece) or have about 5-6 word class players- like the
66 team.

We better get used to bolton type football- direct. Unless the board
give Sam a lot of money to buy better players who will cost 10-15m
each.

Not true....Glen Roeder was a great coach but a lousy manager. The team
are like jekyl and hyde when it comes to the difference between home and
away form. Away from home they look nervous and jumpy and that shows in
the way they give the ball away all the time and create nothing. At home
they look like they really WANT the win for the fans and keep pressuring
everything and the passes come off. I don't think many teams will walk
away from St James with 3 points this season. That said I think once the
first coupel of wins away from home get on the board then the confidence
will be up and they can go on and qualify for UEFA cup for next season.
If not then I think we certainly will next season. Sam is getting the
club moving inthe right direction and everyone can seee improvement to the
defense and the MF looks a lot stronger when on its top form. But, once
again we can't ever field a settled side due to all the injuries!

I agree that we're moving in the right direction and the defence in
particular is looking more solid. But with the money that Sam had to
spend this summer, he has done well. Considering most of the players
were bought for 2-3m, Sven had a lot more to spend and he got better
quality for his money.

I dont think the MF is that strong, we lack creativity and
penetration. that's why when we play away we keep giving the ball
away. If Emre and Duff return and we move Smith upfront or use him as
a sub rather than one of the 3 in MF- with Barton and Emre in the
middle instead of Smith and either Gerimi or Butt sitting deep we'll
play better away from home imo.
