First he gives Källström a very soft yellow, Then decides not book
Hargreaves...then Lyon's players is all over him and Boumsong gets a
yellow...then rewards his complaining by giving Hargreaves (deservedly) a
yellow. Very odd.
It's been a fair game without any real nasty tackles but already 4 yellow.
Unnecessary.

Rubbish game. Team selection was a bit odd - I think Fergie did his
usual and tried to rest people in a game we needed a result from.
C'est la vie.
I've not seen anything from Lyon that would worry me at OT - so I'm
sure a 1-0 away loss isn't a big issue.
Interestingly, United and Arsenal are struggling a bit tonight, as did
Chelsea last night.... just shows how different things can be if you
gave up on the league before Christmas.
All the top 3 know they're in for one hell of a battle in the last few
months of the season, so have looked a bit flat in Europe. The only
team that did anything was the side that never puts together a
credible title challenge.... |

Just as I said that, we've grabbed the equaliser.

I actually think it's been a decent game. Good chances to both teams and I
think 1-1 is a fair reflection on that. I think Scholes and Giggs are now
slowing us down a bit. It was a good choice of Fergie to take them off when
we needed the goal. Hargreaves played well defensively, but lacks a bit
going forward.

1-1 ...all good. Benzema and Ben Arfa looks great. Those kinds of players
that can create something special on their own. And of course there is
always Juninho's freekicks to worry about. Lyon's weakness is their defense,
so we just need to put a lot of pressure on them at OT and we will be fine.

Rafa has no clue how to deal with 4 comps. Just see how he made a mess of
playing Torres in the league cup and then dropping points in the PL. Maybe
Liverpool need a team of managers. One for each comp. |

After all 4 had played all can take positives from their results and all
to play for in the second legs. |

On this week's performances and results, I'd say...
Favourites to go through:
Liverpool (Rafa will 'park the bus') just shading out United (with the
advantage of an away goal)
followed by Chelsea. 0-0 away, should get a win at home.
with Arsenal shading out Celtic.... Can't see Arsenal winning away,
but they may just sneak it on an away goal. Celtic are dead and
buried.

Totally agree. I feel awful saying it after the service they've both put
in......but Fergie was going on about Ryan playing at this level for another
"three years or so" in the Manchester Evening News. I certainly don't agree
with a: whether he could, or b: if it is even right to consider it.
Through nothing but natural ageing and absolutely no fault of their own,
neither are the players they once were ......and their long terms successors
need to be given a chance prove themselves. Sentimentality doesn't win you
European cups. Youth and speed can go a long way to it, though.

I wouldn't like to be in Arsenal's boots, however.

No they have the hardest job but they didn't concede the away goal which
could make a big difference.
