I know, I do -- for their first goal.

Jens would have caught that ball. When did anyone score from a free
kick with Jens between the posts? a

Not sure if you're been sarcastic, but Almunia completely messed up by
trying to make the save with his wrong hand. That's a school-boy error
in my book.

Further, in the NHL there's an old adage that you never bench a goalie
after they've had a great game, and Jens had a great game against
Milan.

So now itīs being sarcastic if you praise the Mad Monk. I shake my
head in disbelief. He is bigger than Almunia, his arms are longer, and
I repeat: when did you see a bloke score from a freekick against Jens
Lehmann? They didnīt even score from the penalty spot FFS. a

Actually, after I re-read your first post I deduced you weren't being
sarcastic. To answer I can't recall the last goal conceded from a free-
kick, but it wasn't recent. Not all goals from free-kicks are the
keeper's fault, but Almunia was certainly culpable for this one.

People argue that Almunia hasn't done anything wrong since he was
given the first team job. I say, there's something seriously wrong
having a near world-class back four and still having the worst
defensive record out of the top 4. Apart from the penalty save against
Spurs (which arguably involved a lot of luck), Almunia's yet to
produce a save that's changed the outcome of a match.

I'll call it right now: Almunia will be a liability against Milan, if
he starts.
